Hot Carrier Mobility Dynamics Unravel Competing Subpicosecond Processes in Lead Halide Perovskites

Andres Burgos-Caminal et al.

Summary: The mechanisms behind the large photocarrier diffusion length and outstanding photovoltaic performances of lead halide perovskites (LHP) are still debated, with research showing a competition between carrier cooling and dynamic screening during the charge separation process. Measurements using ultrabroadband terahertz spectroscopy reveal early carrier mobility dynamics and a chemical composition dependence of the dynamic screening lifetime.

Chlorophyll Derivative-Sensitized TiO2 Electron Transport Layer for Record Efficiency of Cs2AgBiBr6 Double Perovskite Solar Cells

Baoning Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a carboxy-chlorophyll derivative (C-Chl) was introduced as a sensitizer to enhance the performance of Cs2AgBiBr6-based perovskite solar cells. The optimized device achieved a significantly improved power conversion efficiency (PCE) exceeding 3% for the first time, with enhanced short-circuit current density and improved stability. The introduction of C-Chl was found to reduce defects, accelerate electron extraction, and suppress charge recombination at the interface, leading to the enhanced overall performance of the solar cells.

Polarons and Charge Localization in Metal-Halide Semiconductors for Photovoltaic and Light-Emitting Devices

Leonardo R. V. Buizza et al.

Summary: Metal-halide semiconductors have shown excellent performance in optoelectronic applications, with charge-lattice interactions and polaron formation playing important roles. The influence of variations in potential barriers and the presence of interfaces on the strength of polaronic effects in nanostructured and novel metal-halide materials is discussed. Ultimately, a complete understanding of polaronic effects is crucial for optimizing optoelectronic properties essential to energy and optoelectronic applications.

Bandgap engineering and sublattice distortion driven bandgap bowing in Cs2Ag1-xNaxBiCl6 double perovskites

Athrey C. Dakshinamurthy et al.

Summary: Bandgap engineering in lead-free Cs2Ag1-xNaxBiCl6 double perovskite alloys shows nonlinear changes with Na substitution concentration, influenced by the interaction between [Ag(Na)Cl6]5- and [BiCl6]3- octahedra. Raman spectroscopic studies reveal variations in vibrational modes due to local distortions, with deviations from Vegard's rule observed for higher Na concentration, highlighting the significant influence of sublattice distortion on bandgap bowing effect.

Revealing the Potential Crystal Structures of Earth-Abundant Nontoxic Photovoltaic CuBiI4

Lan Wang et al.

Summary: This paper predicts fifteen crystal structures of CuBiI4 with low energy through a global search, and identifies two P(1)bar(P(1)bar - II; P(1)bar - III) structures and one P2(1)/m structure as energetically favorable and mechanically stable. The simulated X-ray diffraction curves of the P2(1)/m structure match well with experimental data. These CuBiI4 structures show high photoelectric conversion efficiency, indicating their potential as absorption layer materials for high-performance solar cells.
