Influence of crucible properties and Si3N4-coating composition on the oxygen concentration in multi-crystalline silicon ingots

S. Schwanke et al.

Summary: The study found that silica ceramic crucible type and Si3N4 coating properties affect oxygen contamination in directionally solidified silicon ingots. The use of colloidal SiO2 particles and the SiO2/Si3N4 ratio impact oxygen concentration, while thick Si3N4 coatings can reduce contamination. Higher argon flow velocities can lower oxygen contamination, although this effect may be countered by certain crucible types.
