Tailoring surface morphology of heterostructured iron-based Fenton catalyst for highly improved catalytic activity

Shun-Xing Liang et al.

Summary: The study explores the development of heterostructured catalysts through rapid annealing of Fe-based metallic glasses and subsequent ball milling, which enables more chemically active sites due to its specific surface area, surface defects, and nanosized amorphous oxide layer, enhancing surface-catalyzed reactions in the Fenton-like process. The high efficiency of electron transfer in heterostructured catalysts is further facilitated by high-temperature annealing inducing grain growth and the electrochemical potential difference induced effect of galvanic cells in multiple crystalline phases.

Efficient nanostructured heterogeneous catalysts by electrochemical etching of partially crystallized Fe-based metallic glass ribbons

Qiaoyue Zhang et al.

Summary: This study successfully prepared a nanoporous structure with effective catalytic active sites by short-time electrochemical etching of partially crystallized Fe-based ribbons in a specific electrolyte, providing a new approach for the development of environmental catalysts. The selection of electrolyte is crucial in optimizing processing conditions, as the dye degradation rates of the etched ribbons in HNO3 and Na2SO4 electrolytes were at least 2 times higher than that of the untreated materials.

Magnetically separable Z-scheme FeSiB metallic glass/g-C3N4 heterojunction photocatalyst with high degradation efficiency at universal pH conditions

Fang Miao et al.

Summary: A magnetically separable Z-scheme FeSiB metallic glass/g-C3N4 photocatalyst with high efficiency in degrading hazardous pollutants in wastewater under universal pH conditions was prepared. The heterojunction structure formed between g-C3N4 and FeSiB MG led to improved separation efficiency of electron-hole pairs, enhancing the photocatalytic activity. The recyclability of the catalyst due to high saturation magnetization makes it convenient for practical applications.

Performance enhancement and catalytic mechanism identification of Cu-based composite for degradation of organic contaminants

Bowen Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, an innovative self-propagating combustion method was utilized to synthesize Cu-based composite with high catalytic activity for efficient degradation of organic pollutants. The degradation efficiencies are approximately 99.8% and total organic carbon (TOC) removals can be over 60% under optimal reaction conditions. The possible catalytic mechanisms involving activated hydroxyl radicals and superoxide anion radicals were proposed for catalytic oxidation reactions.
