Novel lignin-based single atom catalysts as peroxymonosulfate activator for pollutants degradation: Role of single cobalt and electron transfer pathway

Yuanfeng Qi et al.

Summary: A nitrogen coordinated Co single-atom catalyst was fabricated using lignin as carbon sources through a one-pot pyrolytic strategy. The isolated Co atoms in the SA Co-N/C architecture served as the main active sites for naproxen degradation, exhibiting exceptional performance with a high turnover frequency. Electron transfer induced by the single-atom Co sites was identified as the dominated mechanism for the NPX degradation.
