Synthesis and self-assembly of Salen type Schiff based on o-phenylenediamine organogels in response to Zn2+

Yun-Shang Yang et al.

Summary: Two Salen type Schiff based on o-phenylenediamine were synthesized, showing excellent gel properties in selected solvents; thermal stability results indicated an increase in gel-to-sol transition temperature with increasing concentrations of gel molecules; various molecular forces such as hydrogen bonding, van der Waals force, and 11-11 stacking drove the self-assembly of the gel.
