Maximizing Metal-Support Interactions in Pt/Co3O4 Nanocages to Simultaneously Boost Hydrogen Production Activity and Durability

Mei Li et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that Pt/Co3O4 nanocage catalyst can accelerate H2 generation and enhance stability through metal-support interactions, with a ninefold higher turnover frequency compared to commercial Pt/C. The catalyst facilitates H2O adsorption and dissociation, H generation, and desorption of toxic byproducts through strong electronic interactions between Co3O4 and Pt. This dual-function synergy effect leads to a significant enhancement in durability.

Maximizing the Synergistic Effect of CoNi Catalyst on α-MoC for Robust Hydrogen Production

Yuzhen Ge et al.

Summary: This study reports the synthesis of highly dispersed CoNi bimetallic catalysts on alpha-MoC surface through the strong metal support interaction (SMSI) effect. The as-synthesized CoNi/alpha-MoC catalysts exhibited robust and synergistic performance for hydrogen production from hydrolysis of ammonia borane, with metal-normalized activity surpassing all previously reported noble metal-free catalysts and being four times higher than that of the commercial Pt/C catalyst.

Sea-Urchin-like Hollow CuMoO4-CoMoO4 Hybrid Microspheres, a Noble-Metal-like Robust Catalyst for the Fast Hydrogen Production from Ammonia Borane

Yufa Feng et al.

Summary: In this study, sea-urchin-like hollow CuMoO4-CoMoO4 hybrid microspheres were prepared by a template-free approach and exhibited ultrahigh catalytic performance in hydrolyzing ammonia borane for H-2 production. A synergistic effect was experimentally confirmed between CoMoO4 and CuMoO4, leading to a significant decrease in energy barrier in the rate-determining step of AB hydrolysis. These findings offer new insights for designing cheap hybrid catalysts with high performance in AB hydrolysis.
