Enhanced Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction Activity over NH2-MIL-125(Ti) by Facet Regulation

Xiao-Mei Cheng et al.

Summary: The study investigated the facet effect of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) on photocatalytic processes by synthesizing NH2-MIL-125(Ti) with different ratios of {001} and {111} facets. It was found that increasing exposed proportion of {111} facets enhanced the activity in photoreduction of CO2. The {111} facets exhibited significantly higher photocatalytic activity and quantum yields compared to the {001} facets, with an important role in inhibiting electron-hole recombination.

Perspectives on titanium-based metal-organic frameworks

Ha L. Nguyen

Summary: The chemistry of titanium metal-organic frameworks (Ti-MOFs) involves connecting various titanium-oxo clusters formed mainly by hydrolysis of titanium precursors and organic linkers, but the synthesis challenges persist. Scientists have pursued various approaches to overcome these challenges, but further efforts are needed to enhance the diversity and applications of Ti-MOFs.
