Recent advances in surface-enhanced Raman scattering-based sensors for the detection of inorganic ions: Sensing mechanism and beyond

Summary: Inorganic ions determination using surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy has gained attention for its potential as a promising alternative method. By monitoring the SERS spectral alteration of a molecular probe upon interaction with specific inorganic ions, sensitive SERS-based inorganic ion sensors have been constructed. Challenges and future research opportunities in utilizing SERS-based methods for inorganic ions sensing are briefly discussed.
