A synchronous defect passivation strategy for constructing high-performance and stable planar perovskite solar cells

Yansen Sun et al.

Summary: The study proposes a synchronous defect passivation strategy by introducing chelating agents with movable alkali metal cations into SnO2 aqueous colloidal dispersions, which effectively regulates the properties of ETL, perovskite layer, and their interface. This approach leads to uniform, less defective, and highly conductive ETLs, improving the interfacial charge transfer and resulting in high PCEs, reduced hysteresis, and improved stability for PSCs based on STA-SnO2 and PSTA-SnO2. This work simplifies the defect passivation process and provides a promising low-cost technique for large-scale manufacturing of efficient and stable planar PSCs.

Doped Bilayer Tin(IV) Oxide Electron Transport Layer for High Open-Circuit Voltage Planar Perovskite Solar Cells with Reduced Hysteresis

Jiajiu Ye et al.

Summary: The bilayer ETL consisting of two different doped SnO2 nanoparticle layers improves the open-circuit voltage loss in halide perovskite solar cells, enhances electron transfer efficiency, and reduces carrier recombination processes. The reduced strain in perovskite layers grown on the bilayer ETL contributes to increased stability and easier preparation of smooth, pinhole-free ETLs. Additionally, the bilayer SnO2 ETL can be processed at low temperature, showing great potential for use in tandem devices or flexible PSCs.

Efficient and Stable Perovskite Solar Cells Using Bathocuproine Bilateral-Modified Perovskite Layers

Renjie Chen et al.

Summary: Surface modification engineering plays a crucial role in enhancing the crystallinity and passivating the interface and grain boundary of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), resulting in an improvement in power conversion efficiency (PCE) and stability. The introduction of n-type semiconductor bathocuproine (BCP) at the perovskite/transport layer interfaces showed significant enhancements in PCEs due to improved crystallinity and superior interface contact properties. Dual-sided BCP modification at both interfaces further improved crystallinity and contact properties, leading to higher PCEs and enhanced stability of the PSCs.
