Toward Covalent Organic Framework Metastructures

Song Wang et al.

Summary: The direct synthesis of metastructured assemblies of two-dimensional (2D) polymers, specifically 2D covalent organic frameworks (COFs), in solution has been demonstrated. These metastructures exhibit unique optical and mechanical properties under visible-near-infrared light, making them suitable for novel particulate optical devices with high sensitivity for information collection and storage. The self-assembly of 2D polymers into metastructures may lead to the development of functional materials with unprecedented properties and applications.

Hydroxide Anion Transport in Covalent Organic Frameworks

Shanshan Tao et al.

Summary: Designing and synthesizing anionic covalent organic frameworks has been shown to promote hydroxide anion transport, achieving exceptional conductivity compared to linear polymers and other porous frameworks. The study reveals that hydroxide anions transport via a proton-exchange hopping mechanism. These results open up new possibilities for designing framework materials for energy conversions.

Hierarchical Assembly of Two-Dimensional Polymers into Colloidosomes and Microcapsules

Ziyang Zhang et al.

Summary: Hierarchical assembly of 2D polymers into 3D microstructures offers new opportunities for creating functional materials with unique properties. In this study, COF microcapsules were assembled from small molecules and used as templates for interfacial polymerization, resulting in microcapsules with good stability, high crystallinity, and the ability to load water-soluble substances. This approach has the potential to expand the applications of 2D polymers and their microcapsules.

High-efficiency Pd nanoparticles loaded porous organic polymers membrane catalytic reactors

Yaohan Chen et al.

Summary: An innovative method was developed to prepare porous organic polymer membranes through interfacial azo-coupling polymerization. These membranes, with plenty of anchoring sites for loading Pd nanoparticles, served as membrane reactors and exhibited high-performance catalytic reduction with a flux of 27.3 t m(-2) day(-1). These membranes also showed good long-term stability due to almost zero Pd leaching.
