Coordination interaction boosts energy storage in rechargeable Al battery with a positive electrode material of CuSe

Gangyong Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a coordination adsorption strategy was employed using CuSe as a positive electrode material to enhance cycling stability and rate capability. Ex situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed reversible redox reactions of Cu and Se species, while electron microscopy measurements showed capacity deterioration due to the dissolution of active Cu and Se species. Theoretical calculations identified strong coordination interaction between nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide and active species as key in suppressing shuttle effects and achieving excellent cycling stability.

Boosting energy efficiency of Li-rich layered oxide cathodes by tuning oxygen redox kinetics and reversibility

Chong Yin et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the rational design of an energy-efficient Li-rich layered cathode with high energy, power density and cycling stability by tuning oxygen redox activity. The target material Li1.12Ni0.22Co0.13Mn0.52O2 shows ultra-high energy efficiency (90.6%) at 1C, high capacity (>200 mAh g(-1)) with 98.9% retention, and less than 150 mV of decay after 200 cycles. The compositional change greatly improves the oxygen redox kinetics and reversibility, leading to enhanced energy efficiency and narrowing the gap between scientific interest and practical application in oxygen-redox chemistry.

Encouraging Voltage Stability upon Long Cycling of Li-Rich Mn-Based Cathode Materials by Ta-Mo Dual Doping

Jiachao Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, Ta-Mo codoped Li1.2Ni0.13Co0.13Mn0.54O2 with high energy density was prepared and the effects of charge-discharge methods, bulk doping, and surface structure design on its electrochemical performances were systematically investigated.
