Selective Synthesis of Single-Handed Helical Polymers from Achiral Monomer and a Mechanism Study on Helix-Sense-Selective Polymerization

Li Zhou et al.

Summary: Inspired by natural helices, this study focused on the fabrication of helical materials with controlled handedness. It was found that helices of opposite handedness exhibited different activity, with the unfavored handedness being self-terminated and the favored handedness showing high activity.

Secondary Structure in Nonpeptidic Supramolecular Block Copolymers

Margarita Milton et al.

Summary: This article describes a strategy for synthesizing protein-mimicking polymers, exploring the relationship between secondary structure elements and tertiary structures in block copolymers, and proposing methods for assembling hierarchical materials. The study utilized strategies such as ROMP synthesis and supramolecular self-assembly to achieve the combination of different functional units and control over folded structures.

Bottlebrush Polymers Carrying Side Chains on Every Backbone Atom: Controlled Synthesis, Polymerization-Induced Emission, and Circularly Polarized Luminescence

Wen-Bin Liu et al.

Summary: Controlled synthesis of bottlebrush polymers with high grafting density and carrying polymeric side chains on every backbone atom is a great challenge. In this study, well-defined polymers bearing polymerizable phenyl isocyanide were prepared, and polymerization of these macromonomers yielded bottlebrush polymers with PLLA or PDLA side chains on every backbone atom. The densely grafted polymers exhibited intriguing photoluminescence and induced clear circularly polarized luminescence with defined handedness.
