Continuous biohydrogen production from poplar biomass hydrolysate by a defined bacterial mixture immobilized on lignocellulosic materials under non-sterile conditions

Sanjay K. S. Patel et al.

Summary: This study focused on continuous production of H-2 from poplar biomass using a immobilized state mixed culture under non-sterile conditions. The results showed a steady H-2 yield over a period of 40 days, which was significantly higher compared to traditional single bacterial cultures. This approach has the potential to meet the increasing demand for cleaner energy-rich fuels in a sustainable manner.

Evaluation and optimisation of direct transesterification methods for the assessment of lipid accumulation in oleaginous filamentous fungi

Anne Marie Langseter et al.

Summary: The study evaluated three common direct transesterification methods for processing fungal biomass, finding that the Lewis and Lepage methods are suitable for lipid analysis of oleaginous filamentous fungi. However, some of the transesterification yields obtained may need correction, indicating the importance of careful selection and implementation of internal standards for gas chromatography.

A multi-objective hybrid machine learning approach-based optimization for enhanced biomass and bioactive phycobiliproteins production in Nostoc sp. CCC-403

Dinesh Kumar Saini et al.

Summary: In this study, a multi-objective hybrid machine learning-based optimization approach was used to simultaneously enhance cell biomass and PBPs production in Nostoc sp. CCC-403. By utilizing a central composite design and prediction model, the total PBPs production increased by 61.76% and cell biomass almost doubled. Additionally, a test genome-scale metabolic network (GSMN) was established for Nostoc sp., revealing potential metabolic fluxes contributing to the enhanced production of PBPs.
