Low serum parathyroid hormone is a risk factor for peritonitis episodes in incident peritoneal dialysis patients: a retrospective study

Summary: The study found that low levels of PTH are associated with peritonitis in incident PD patients, with these patients being more likely to develop peritonitis. This association may be related to older age, higher eGFR, higher hemoglobin, higher calcium levels, and lower levels of phosphate and alkaline phosphatase in patients with low PTH levels.
