Calcium phosphate nanoparticles as intrinsic inorganic antimicrobials: mechanism of action

Victoria M. Wu et al.

Summary: The study found that CP nanoparticles have bacteriostatic effects on E. coli but not bactericidal effects, and mainly act by altering the bacterial cell membrane. HAp nanoparticles are more internalized by bacteria, while membrane damage is more pronounced in bacteria treated with ACP.
