Cognitive impairments and recovery in patients with work-related stress complaints - four years later

Vita Ligaya Dalgaard et al.

Summary: This study examined the cognitive functioning and recovery of patients with work-related stress four years after seeking professional care. Results showed that patients improved in cognitive performance over four years, with lower immediate memory scores compared to controls. Work participation levels significantly increased over time, but more than half of patients did not feel completely recovered at the four-year mark.

Job Demands-Resources theory and self-regulation: new explanations and remedies for job burnout

Arnold B. Bakker et al.

Summary: This study proposes a multilevel model that explains how acute job strain leads to enduring and severe job burnout. By synthesizing literature, integrating self-regulation perspectives, and JD-R theory, it suggests that consistently high job demands, low job resources, and failed self-regulation contribute to burnout.
