Black Adolescents' Anticipatory Stress Responses to Multilevel Racism: The Role of Racial Identity

Elan C. Hope et al.

Summary: The study revealed that Black adolescents experience more anticipatory racism-related stress responses when facing individual, institutional, and cultural racism, including increased cognitive activation, appraisal of coping strategies, and anticipation of future racism. The findings also suggest that racial identity dimensions, particularly public regard and private regard, may moderate these relationships.
