Soniya Billore et al.

Summary: Panic buying, as a coping mechanism for real and perceived dangers associated with COVID-19, has re-emerged as a 'new' normal consumer behavior. Despite the lack of scholarly research on this topic, this study aims to fill this gap by systematically reviewing existing studies from the past two decades. The findings reveal fragmented publications across multiple disciplines, mostly as reactions to the pandemic crisis, contributing insights to marketing research and proposing a research agenda related to retailer and consumer perspectives, policymaking, governance, and broader societal impacts.
