Mediators of physical activity behaviour change interventions among adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Ryan E. Rhodes et al.

Summary: An understanding of physical activity through behavior change mediators is crucial for evaluating intervention effectiveness. The meta-analysis in this review indicates that current theories mediate the effects seen in physical activity interventions, but the effects are small and no single theory stands out as a critical driver of mediated effects. Innovation and improved intervention fidelity are necessary moving forward.
