Do carbon emissions impact the health of residents? Considering China's industrialization and urbanization

Hanmin Dong et al.

Summary: Industrialization and urbanization have intensified the conflict between environmental protection and economic growth, leading to health issues. The study indicates that carbon emissions have a long-term adverse impact on residents' health, mainly by raising the temperature, especially in areas with high levels of industrialization and urbanization.

Carbon emission reduction characteristics for China's manufacturing firms: Implications for formulating carbon policies

Yunfei An et al.

Summary: This study used DEA-GS model to analyze the carbon reduction characteristics of China's manufacturing industry, finding that as the marginal abatement costs of firms increase, the growth rates of emission reduction activities and emission reduction slow down. The impact of marginal abatement costs on reduction activities and firms in each sub-sector is heterogeneous. The emission reduction behaviors of manufacturing firms are mostly concentrated in developed areas or around large cities.

How well has economic strategy changed CO2 emissions? Evidence from China's largest emission province

Hua Yang et al.

Summary: In recent years, Shandong Province has become one of China's largest carbon emitters. The increasing trend of CO2 emissions in the province from 2010 to 2018 is mainly driven by energy intensity and industrial structure, with industrial structure being the primary factor in emission reduction, although its effect is not stable in some cities and sectors.

Economic policy uncertainty (EPU) and firm carbon emissions: Evidence using a China provincial EPU index

Jian Yu et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of economic policy uncertainty (EPU) on manufacturing firms' carbon emission intensity in China, finding a significantly positive effect of EPU on carbon emission intensity. The channels through which EPU influences carbon emission intensity are mainly the share of fossil fuels in total energy consumption and energy intensity.
