Ta-doping triggered electronic structural engineering and strain effect in NiFe LDH for enhanced water oxidation

Summary: Structural manipulation of electrocatalysts by doping high-valence Ta into NiFe layered double hydroxide enhances OER activity through lattice expansion and electronic structure modification. The optimized Ta-NiFe LDH exhibits superior OER performance with lower overpotential and smaller Tafel slope. This work provides a theoretical basis for enhancing OER activity by doping LDH with high-valence foreign metals.

A robust bifunctional catalyst for rechargeable Zn-air batteries: Ultrathin NiFe-LDH nanowalls vertically anchored on soybean-derived Fe-N-C matrix

Summary: In this study, ultrathin NiFe-LDH nanowalls were combined with soybean-derived Fe-N-C matrix to create a hybrid material, showing excellent catalytic activities for oxygen evolution and reduction processes. These materials exhibit top-notch battery parameters and stability in rechargeable zinc-air batteries, with the performance attributed to the synergy between NiFe-LDH nanosheets and Fe-N-C matrix derived from soybean. The role of intrinsic N defects in the hybrid materials was specified for the first time, facilitating the utilization of sustainable biomass-derived catalysts and potentially advancing the development of other functional hybrid electrocatalysts.
