Summary: The study reveals that alcohol use disorders are more stigmatised compared to other health conditions, and beliefs about different etiological models of addiction may impact public stigma toward AOD disorders. Regional variability in these beliefs also exists, with beliefs in the moral model of addiction contributing to differences in public stigma between the USA and Canada.
