Analysis of biofuel (briquette) production from forest biomass: a socioeconomic incentive towards deforestation

Summary: Deforestation is a major problem in developing countries, especially in Pakistan. This study focuses on the utilization of agroforest biomass as an alternative to wood fuel in order to reduce deforestation and degradation. The results show that the biomass briquettes produced have good physical and thermal properties, making them a sustainable and profitable energy source.

Summary: Deforestation is a major issue in developing countries, particularly in Pakistan. This study in Gilgit Baltistan aimed to evaluate the causes of deforestation in the Basho forest, finding that socioeconomic factors such as rapid population growth, livelihood activities, lack of education, poor forest management, fuel wood consumption, and period of residence were prominent factors. Results indicated that addressing these factors through forest conservation policies and technologies could help reduce deforestation rates to a sustainable level.
