A new hybrid model of information entropy and unascertained measurement with different membership functions for evaluating destressability in burst-prone underground mines

Jian Zhou et al.

Summary: The study applies a hybrid model based on unascertained measurement and entropy coefficients to evaluate the destressability of underground mines. By selecting various parameters, computing weights and comprehensive measurement vectors, the destressability can be accurately assessed. The results show that the proposed model can eliminate subjective factors and ensure the reliability of the evaluation, providing a new idea/process for destressability evaluation.

Imaging discrete fracture networks using the location and moment tensors of microseismic events

Jeongmin Yu et al.

Summary: Microseismic monitoring provides important information on the locations and moment tensors of microseismic events, which can be used to understand the behavior of fractures more completely. A method using microseismic event locations and their moment tensors was proposed to effectively image fracture networks, with improvements made to the conventional RANSAC method for quick and efficient extraction of fracture planes. The application of DBSCAN to the microseismic event location data and moment tensor information helped improve the accuracies of locations and orientations of fracture planes.

Developing a hybrid model of Jaya algorithm-based extreme gradient boosting machine to estimate blast-induced ground vibrations

Jian Zhou et al.

Summary: Blasting is still considered an important alternative for conventional excavations, but the ground vibration it generates can be harmful to nearby structures and should be prevented. A novel Jaya-XGBoost model was developed to predict blast-induced peak particle velocity (PPV) with high reliability using 150 sets of data and the Jaya algorithm for optimization. This model outperformed other machine learning models and traditional empirical models in predicting ground vibration.
