Occurrence and removal of micropollutants in full-scale aerobic, anaerobic and facultative wastewater treatment plants in Brazil

Oladapo Komolafe et al.

Summary: This study evaluated micropollutant occurrence and removal in three technologically diverse wastewater treatment plants in Brazil. The results showed that waste stabilization ponds (WSPs) were the most effective system for micropollutant removal, especially in warm climates. However, effluent from all three plants could pose a risk to aquatic organisms, indicating the need for further treatment.
