Haplotype-based, case-control study of myosin phosphatase target subunit 1 (PPP1R12A) gene and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy

Ai Kono et al.

Summary: The study suggests that the PPP1R12A gene may be a disease-susceptibility gene for superimposed preeclampsia (SPE). Significant associations were found between SNVs rs11114256 and rs2694657 in the PPP1R12A gene region and the occurrence of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP). Haplotype analysis revealed differences in frequency distributions between control group and HDP group, especially in the G-A-A-G haplotype.

Role of Rho in Salt-Sensitive Hypertension

Wakako Kawarazaki et al.

Summary: High salt intake can result in increased blood pressure, especially in individuals with impaired renal sodium excretion, leading to salt-sensitive hypertension. Activation of Rho in the central nervous system and vascular smooth muscle cells plays a crucial role in this process, contributing to increased vascular resistance and tone, ultimately impacting blood pressure control.

ROCK Inhibition as Potential Target for Treatment of Pulmonary Hypertension

Tadeu L. Montagnoli et al.

Summary: Pulmonary hypertension is a cardiovascular disease caused by extensive vascular remodeling in the lungs, ultimately leading to right ventricle failure. ROCK inhibitors show significant anti-remodeling and anti-inflammatory effects, making them promising targets for PH therapy.
