Electrochemical and optical detection and machine learning applied to images of genosensors for diagnosis of prostate cancer with the biomarker PCA3

Summary: Developing simple and effective detection methods for various infections and diseases, including prostate cancer, is crucial. In this study, genosensors with different detection principles for a prostate cancer specific DNA sequence (PCA3) were developed. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy showed the highest sensitivity with a detection limit of 83 pM, indicating its potential for early diagnosis. Further image analysis developments are needed for machine learning algorithms to improve the accuracy of distinguishing between different concentrations of PCA3.

Efficient Screening of Glycan-Specific Aptamers Using a Glycosylated Peptide as a Scaffold

Summary: This study presents a novel approach to efficiently screen aptamers towards specific glycans with complex structures using a glycosylated peptide scaffold. By alternately conducting positive and negative selection steps, aptamers with satisfactory binding abilities to the target glycan A2G2S2 were successfully selected, which were then used for fluorescent imaging of cancerous liver cells to achieve differentiation from normal liver cells.
