Cannabidiol (CBD) enhanced the hippocampal immune response and autophagy of APP/PS1 Alzheimer's mice uncovered by RNA-seq

Fengjin Hao et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that CBD may improve the pathological process of Alzheimer's disease by enhancing immune system response and autophagy pathway, as shown through transcriptome sequencing.

Summary: JNJ-42165279 appears to have an anxiolytic effect in subjects with social anxiety disorder (SAD), although trough concentrations with 25 mg once daily seemed insufficient to completely inhibit FAAH activity, resulting in suboptimal efficacy.

Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Fatty Acid Amide Hydrolase Inhibition in Monocytes/Macrophages from Alzheimer's Disease Patients

Valerio Chiurchiu et al.

Summary: Growing evidence suggests that the immune system plays a critical role in the pathogenesis and progression of Alzheimer's disease, with targeting peripheral immune mechanisms showing promise as therapeutic strategies. Research has found that in AD patients, there is significantly reduced expression of CB1 and CB2 in B-lymphocytes, and decreased CB2 and increased FAAH in monocytes. Pharmacological inactivation of FAAH in monocytes from AD patients can modulate immune responses by altering cytokine production.

The short-term and long-term effects of cannabis on cognition: recent advances in the field

Emese Kroon et al.

Summary: Recent evidence suggests that cannabis intoxication leads to short-term impairment in cognitive functions, while the effects of long-term heavy cannabis use on cognition remain inconclusive. Difficulties in measuring cannabis exposure, controlling subacute effects, and variations in cognitive measures and sample composition all contribute to the challenges in cannabis research. Collaboration across disciplines and investment in overcoming these challenges should be prioritized for future studies.
