Germanium nanospheres for ultraresolution picotensiometry of kinesin motors

Swathi Sudhakar et al.

Summary: Kinesin motors were found to take 4-nanometer center-of-mass steps and remain in an 8-nanometer slip state on microtubules under hindering load conditions, with reengagement and rescue of directed motion being more frequent. These observations expand our understanding of the mechanochemical cycle and slip state of kinesin, which are crucial for long-range transport by motor teams.

Parallel, linear, and subnanometric 3D tracking of microparticles with Stereo Darkfield Interferometry

Martin Rieu et al.

Summary: This new technique offers simple 3D tracking of dilute microparticles with subnanometer frame-to-frame precision, alleviating calibration procedures and enhancing precision. Its utility has been demonstrated in single-molecule force spectroscopy and single-algae motility analysis. By being embedded in commercial objectives, it has the potential to enhance the spreading of high-precision and high-throughput 3D tracking.
