CoSe@N-Doped Carbon Nanotubes as a Potassium-Ion Battery Anode with High Initial Coulombic Efficiency and Superior Capacity Retention

Yanzhen Liu et al.

Summary: Potassium-ion batteries have attracted attention as a sustainable energy storage alternative due to the abundance and redox activity of potassium. However, the lack of competitive electrode materials and compatible electrolyte systems has hindered their development. A new electrode material, cobalt monochalcogenide confined in N-doped carbon nanotubes, shows promising performance in storing potassium ions, with high initial Coulombic efficiency and stability in electrolyte. Additionally, the electrolyte component KPF6 plays a catalytic role in forming a critical film on the electrode's surface, enhancing the stability and reversibility of the battery system.

Sulfur-Doped Flowerlike Porous Carbon Derived from Metal-Organic Frameworks as a High-Performance Potassium-Ion Battery Anode

Yuqi Zuo et al.

Summary: The research presents a new sulfur-doped porous carbon derived from MIL-88A as an anode material for potassium-ion batteries (PIB). The carbon material has a three-dimensional open framework and a large specific area to shorten the K+ transport path, while the sulfur dopants introduce more defects and enhance K+ storage capability. This results in high reversible capacity and excellent rate performance for the sulfur-doped porous carbon anode in PIB applications.
