Preoperative identification of microvascular invasion in hepatocellular carcinoma by XGBoost and deep learning

Yi-Quan Jiang et al.

Summary: The study developed predictive models using XGBoost and deep learning to predict Microvascular invasion (MVI) status in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. The models showed considerable efficacy in identifying MVI preoperatively, with the predicted MVI-negative group having significantly better recurrence-free survival compared to the predicted MVI-positive group.

Multi-scale and multi-parametric radiomics of gadoxetate disodium-enhanced MRI predicts microvascular invasion and outcome in patients with solitary hepatocellular carcinoma ≤ 5 cm

Huan-Huan Chong et al.

Summary: The study successfully developed radiomics-based nomograms for predicting preoperative microvascular invasion and recurrence-free survival in patients with solitary hepatocellular carcinoma <= 5 cm. Radiomics values, peritumoral enhancement, and absent capsule enhancement were identified as independent risk factors for MVI, while age, histologic MVI, alkaline phosphatase, and alanine aminotransferase were independent predictors for recurrence. The nomograms showed high accuracy in predicting MVI and stratifying RFS.

Radiomics-based model using gadoxetic acid disodium-enhanced MR images: associations with recurrence-free survival of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma treated by surgical resection

Ling Zhang et al.

Summary: A prediction model combining MRI radiomics signatures with clinical factors was developed to predict the prognosis of HCC patients treated with surgical resection. Among the radiomics models, the combined model with clinical risk factors showed the best performance. Results indicated that the combined model and derived nomogram had better prediction performance, greater clinical benefits, and fair calibration efficiency.
