Observed Linkage between Tibetan Plateau Soil Moisture and South Asian Summer Precipitation and the Possible Mechanism

Summary: Understanding the thermal processes of the Tibetan Plateau is crucial in studying climate change, as it impacts summer precipitation in South Asia. This study found that variations in South Asian precipitation are significantly influenced by Tibetan Plateau soil moisture, with dry soil moisture leading to increased summer precipitation in the region. Through analyzing atmospheric data, it was suggested that soil moisture levels in the Tibetan Plateau can affect the energy balance and precipitation patterns in South Asia.

Utility of integrated IMERG precipitation and GLEAM potential evapotranspiration products for drought monitoring over mainland China
