Contemporary analytical chemistry follows the trend of developing methodologies based on green chemistry concepts, with emphasis on making separation technique-based methodologies 'greener.' All-aqueous chromatography and miniaturized separation systems are discussed, but conclusions cannot be drawn due to conflicting viewpoints on green principles within different methodologies.
One of the significant trends that contemporary analytical chemistry follows is development of methodologies as per green chemistry concepts. There are several ways to make separation technique-based methodologies 'greener.' In this opinion, all-aqueous chromatography and miniaturized separation systems are briefly discussed. Unequivocal conclusions cannot be drawn as each methodology/concept/analytical solution may be green from one point of view, but contradicting to green principles in another aspect.
