Outcomes from elective colorectal cancer surgery during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic

Summary: This study aimed to describe the impact of SARS-CoV-2 on mortality and surgical practice after colorectal cancer resection during the initial phases of the pandemic. The results showed a significant association between postoperative SARS-CoV-2 infection and anastomotic leaks with mortality, emphasizing the need for surgeons to reduce these risks during current and future COVID-19 waves.
