The influence of mandibular divergence on facial soft tissue thickness in class I patients: a cephalometric study

T. M. Perovic et al.

Summary: Facial soft tissue thickness varies depending on vertical developmental pattern at different measurement levels. Male subjects generally have thicker soft tissues compared to females, and significant differences exist in the subnasal area among the three groups.

Biomechanical properties of the lips in a pre-orthodontic sample of adolescents and young adults

Danielle Hodgkinson et al.

Summary: This study assessed the biomechanical properties of lip muscles and found that these properties were related to sex, age, BMI, and cephalometric measurements. Differences in tone, stiffness, and elasticity were observed at different anatomical sites. Females had higher tone and stiffness of lip muscles compared to males, while males had higher lip muscle elasticity. In addition, lip thickness was associated with lip muscle characteristics.

Summary: This study compared the effectiveness of Surgery-first approach (SFA) and conventional orthognathic approach (COA) in the treatment of patients, finding that SFA has advantages in terms of skeletal stability and treatment time, but also poses some risks and challenges in terms of surgical complications and quality of life.

Analysis of correlation of 3-dimensional lip vermilion morphology and dentoskeletal forms in young Chinese adults on the basis of sex and skeletal patterns

Zhi-Yu Liu et al.

Summary: The study found significant differences in 3D lip vermilion morphology correlated to skeletal patterns and sex, with adults with skeletal Class III malocclusion showing distinct vermilion morphology compared to other skeletal patterns. The proportion of upper and lower vermilion was mainly affected by the ANB angle, while incisor torque was closely related to vermilion shape.

Association of acrylamide and glycidamide haemoglobin adduct levels with diabetes mellitus in the general population

Guangli Yin et al.

Summary: The study found that HbAA was linearly and inversely associated with the risk of DM, while HbGA/HbAA was nonlinearly and positively associated with the prevalence of DM. These results support epidemiological evidence that HbAA and HbGA/HbAA are significantly associated with diabetes mellitus.

Nasal Morphology and Its Correlation to Craniofacial Morphology in Lateral Cephalometric Analysis

Agnieszka Jankowska et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the association of nasal cephalometric variables with skeletal structures, age, and sex, finding a relationship between nasal morphology and sagittal jaw configuration. Nasal parameters significantly change with age, and sexual dimorphism characterizes differences in nasal bone angle and nasomental angle.

A Comparison of Craniofacial Characteristics between Two Different Adult Populations with Class II Malocclusion-A Cross-Sectional Retrospective Study

Arvind Sivakumar et al.

Summary: Class II malocclusion is a common orthodontic problem that may affect treatment planning and outcomes due to inter-individual and inter-ethnic variability. This study compared cephalometric characteristics between South Indian and Vietnamese individuals with Class II malocclusion to understand the vertical skeletal and dental patterns in different ethnic groups.
