Short Rotation Intensive Culture of Willow, Spent Mushroom Substrate and Ramial Chipped Wood for Bioremediation of a Contaminated Site Used for Land Farming Activities of a Former Petrochemical Plant

Maxime Fortin Faubert et al.

Summary: The study found that supplementation with spent mushroom substrate did not significantly improve biomass production or phytoremediation efficiency, while the addition of ramial chipped wood led to increased zinc accumulation in willows and greater increases of certain PAHs in soil. Additionally, willows of cultivar 'SX61' exhibited significantly higher cadmium concentrations and reduced natural attenuation of C10-C50 contaminants in unvegetated control plots.
