Plant-Based Indole Alkaloids: A Comprehensive Overview from a Pharmacological Perspective

Faisal Omar et al.

Summary: Plant-based indole alkaloids have diverse pharmacological activities, with some compounds showing strong effects such as anticancer, antibacterial, and antiviral properties. However, there is a range of activity levels among the reviewed compounds, from potent to mild-to-moderate. Pharmacokinetic profiles of certain compounds were also evaluated for their promising pharmacological activity.

Central and peripheral pain intervention by Ophiorrhiza rugosa leaves: Potential underlying mechanisms and insight into the role of pain modulators

Md Nazim Uddin Chy et al.

Summary: This study investigated the anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory properties of Ophiorrhiza rugosa leaves, revealing significant pain relief and inflammation inhibition mechanisms involving opioid receptors, cGMP, and ATP-sensitive K+ channel pathways. Additionally, key bioactive compounds identified through GC-MS analysis supported the plant's effectiveness in inhibiting pain and inflammation receptors.

Anti-Inflammatory, Thrombolytic and Hair-Growth Promoting Activity of the n-Hexane Fraction of the Methanol Extract of Leea indica Leaves

Shahenur Alam Sakib et al.

Summary: The n-hexane fraction from the methanol extract of Leea indica leaves demonstrated anti-inflammatory, thrombolytic, and hair growth-promoting activities in experiments conducted on mice. In addition, a in silico study predicted the potential binding affinity of phytochemicals in L. indica towards an enzyme involved in hair loss, indicating the plant's potential as a natural alternative to treat alopecia.
