A dynamic prediction model for prognosis of acute-on-chronic liver failure based on the trend of clinical indicators

Zhenjun Yu et al.

Summary: The study aimed to establish and validate a new scoring system to predict short-term prognosis in patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure using baseline and dynamic data. The new model, based on clinical data, showed better prognostic ability than current scoring systems.

Elevated Heme Oxygenase-1 Correlates With Increased Brain Iron Deposition Measured by Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping and Decreased Hemoglobin in Patients With Parkinson's Disease

Jinghui Xu et al.

Summary: This study found that in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients, there is a significant elevation of serum HO-1 concentration, increase in brain iron deposition, and decrease in HGB level. The levels of serum HO-1 showed a positive correlation with iron deposition and a negative correlation with HGB levels in PD patients. This study also observed similar findings in a PD mouse model, indicating that HO-1 may play a role in the mechanism of iron deposition and anemia in PD.
