Virus removal by membrane bioreactors: A review of mechanism investigation and modeling efforts

Yifan Zhu et al.

Summary: The increasing pressure on global water supply requires more advanced and sustainable solutions, with a focus on microbial safety for public health. Membrane bioreactors are gaining attention for their superiority in water reclamation, and efforts are being made to control waterborne viral disease risks, including developing real-time virus removal models for advanced monitoring and control purposes. Future studies need to address the uncertainty and nonlinearity inherent in the complex removal processes to further advance related technologies.
