LACTB promotes metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma via activation of ERBB3/EGFR-ERK signaling resulting in unfavorable patient survival

Li-Xia Peng et al.

Summary: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) originates in the nasopharyngeal epithelium and is known for its high metastatic rate. The study found elevated expression of LACTB in tumor tissues of NPC, which correlated with poorer patient survival. The role of LACTB in promoting NPC metastasis is dependent on the activation of ERBB3/EGFR-ERK signaling pathway.

Foxq1 promotes metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma by inducing vasculogenic mimicry via the EGFR signaling pathway

Yunfan Luo et al.

Summary: In nasopharyngeal carcinoma, vasculogenic mimicry formation is positively correlated with Foxq1 and EGFR expression, as well as TNM staging, with poor prognosis for VM-positive patients. Foxq1 promotes NPC metastasis by inducing VM, and can be effectively inhibited by EGFR inhibitors. Anti-EGFR and anti-VEGF drugs show synergistic efficacy in NPC inhibition.

Antitumour immunity regulated by aberrant ERBB family signalling

Shogo Kumagai et al.

Summary: Aberrant signalling of ERBB family members plays a key role in tumorigenesis and antitumour immunity evasion. While molecular-targeted agents and immunotherapies show efficacy in various cancers, their effectiveness is limited in cancers with activating gene alterations of ERBB family members.
