Cloning, purification, and characterization of the 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (6 PGDH) from Giardia lamblia

Laura Morales-Luna et al.

Summary: Giardia lamblia relies on the pentose phosphate pathway for essential molecules and requires 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase for NADPH production. The 6pgdh gene was successfully amplified and cloned from G. lamblia to produce recombinant protein, whose functional and structural characteristics were characterized. This study provides valuable information for future research on the role of Gl-6 PGDH in the parasite's metabolism.
