Repression of the stress granule protein G3BP2 inhibits immune checkpoint molecule PD-L1

Yanhong Zhang et al.

Summary: This study reveals the role of stress granule-associated protein G3BP2 in regulating the immune checkpoint molecule PD-L1 in breast and glioblastoma cancer cells, suggesting a connection between stress granule formation and immune checkpoint control in cancer. Inhibition of G3BP2 leads to decreased PD-L1 expression, enhancing the immune response and improving the survival of breast tumor-bearing mice.

Experience of sorafenib treatment in differentiated thyroid cancer from Taiwan

Chen-Yuan Lin et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the real-world experience of sorafenib in treating advanced DTC patients in Taiwan. Most patients started with a dose of 200 mg twice daily and had a mean daily maintenance dose of 433 mg. The most common toxicity of sorafenib was hand foot skin reaction (69%), followed by diarrhea (42%), and skin rash (33%).

G3BP1 interacts with YWHAZ to regulate chemoresistance and predict adjuvant chemotherapy benefit in gastric cancer

Molecular mechanisms of stress granule assembly and disassembly

Sarah Hofmann et al.

Summary: Stress granules are membrane-less ribonucleoprotein-based cellular compartments that form in the cytoplasm in response to environmental stressors. Their function is not fully understood, but aberrant formation and impaired disassembly contribute to various pathological conditions. Recent studies suggest a novel mechanism for stress granule assembly involving a network of mRNAs and proteins.

Medulloblastoma-associated mutations in the DEAD-box RNA helicase DDX3X/DED1 cause specific defects in translation

LncRNA GIRGL drives CAPRIN1-mediated phase separation to suppress glutaminase-1 translation under glutamine deprivation

Ruijie Wang et al.

Summary: GIRGL is a long noncoding RNA induced during glutamine starvation, associated with translational suppression of GLS1. Cellular GIRGL levels are balanced by transactivation by c-JUN and negative stability regulation by HuR/Ago2. Elevated GIRGL levels drive formation of a complex between CAPRIN1 dimers and GLS1 mRNA, promoting liquid-liquid phase separation of CAPRIN1 and stress granule formation.

Summary: Stress granules (SGs) are considered as cellular solutions against stress, and studies have shown their significant role in neurodegenerative diseases. While many studies have been conducted on SGs and neurodegenerative disorders, further systematic research is needed to fully understand their role in the pathogenesis of these diseases.
