Efficient oxidation of biomass derived 5-hydroxymethylfurfural into 2,5-diformylfuran catalyzed by NiMn layered double hydroxide

Summary: Ni3Mn-LDH has been found to be an efficient catalyst for the oxidation of HMF to DFF using molecular oxygen. Both Ni2+ and Mn3+ species in the structure were suggested as active sites for the oxidation of HMF, showing a synergistic effect in the transformation process. The catalyst exhibited impressive catalytic performance, good stability, and recyclability.
