Phasmarhabditis kenyaensis n. sp. (Nematoda: Rhabditidae) from the slug, Polytoxon robustum, in Kenya

Annika Pieterse et al.

Summary: A new species of Phasmarhabditis, named P. kenyaensis, was isolated from Nairobi, Kenya and characterized by unique morphological features. Molecular phylogenetic analysis suggests genetic similarity with undescribed phasmarhabditids from South Africa, indicating a possible African lineage.

Is Phasmarhabditis papillosa (Nematoda: Rhabditidae) a possible biological control agent against the Spanish slug, Arion vulgaris (Gastropoda: Arionidae)?

Ziga Laznik et al.

Summary: This study collected 140 specimens of the Spanish slug, Arion vulgaris, from Podbrezje, Slovenia, and discovered the presence of the parasitic nematode Phasmarhabditis papillosa, which showed virulence against A. vulgaris for the first time. Experimental results demonstrated the efficacy of P. papillosa in controlling slug populations.
