Process design and simulation study: CO2 utilization through mixed reforming of methane for methanol synthesis

Chenxu Shi et al.

Summary: A case study using Aspen HYSYS investigated CO2 utilization for methanol synthesis. It was found that modifying reforming methods and capturing CO2 can increase CO2 utilization, leading to higher methanol yield and the possibility of smaller reactor designs. Additionally, not using purged gas as reformer fuel significantly reduced the CO2 intensity by 50% compared to the base case.

Techno-economic analysis of hydrogen enhanced methanol to gasoline process from biomass-derived synthesis gas

Malte Hennig et al.

Summary: This paper analyzes the implications of using hydrogen in the Biomass-to-Liquid process, showing that hydrogen enhancement leads to higher product yield and conversion efficiency. However, economic analysis reveals that the process is currently unprofitable due to high costs for hydrogen provision.
