CPE-DB: An Open Database of Chemical Penetration Enhancers

Ekaterina P. Vasyuchenko et al.

Summary: The cutaneous delivery route is increasingly common for drug administration, with the use of chemical penetration enhancers (CPEs) to facilitate drug transport through skin layers. The creation of a CPE-DB database allows for the classification and identification of new enhancers, as well as the prediction of biological activity using machine-learning applications.

In Vitro Antioxidant and Anti-Glycation Activity of Resveratrol and Its Novel Triester with Trolox

Sebastiano Intagliata et al.

Summary: A novel resveratrol triester derivative, RSVTR, was synthesized by combining resveratrol with trolox, exhibiting improved anti-glycation activity compared to resveratrol. RSVTR showed good chemical stability under various pHs and temperatures, with the greatest stability observed at pH 7.2 and 5 degrees C. The enhanced ability to inhibit the glycation process was attributed to RSVTR's better interaction with albumin due to increased topological polar surface area values and H-bond acceptor numbers.

Assessment of the Technological Properties of Idebenone and Tocopheryl Acetate Co-Loaded Lipid Nanoparticles

Maria Grazia Sarpietro et al.

Summary: The study focused on designing nanostructured lipid carriers (NLC) containing tocopheryl acetate as liquid lipid and loaded with idebenone, showing potential synergistic effects with antioxidant drugs. Investigating different percentages of tocopheryl acetate and idebenone in NLC, it was found that while the stability of the carriers was maintained with low levels of idebenone, higher levels led to poor stability during long-term storage.
