In vitro biological response of human osteoblasts in 3D chitosan sponges with controlled degree of deacetylation and molecular weight

Summary: The DDA and Mw of chitosan sponges affect adhesion, growth, and differentiation of primary human osteoblasts. Higher DDA promotes the secretion of bone growth factors, while lower DDA promotes the secretion of other proteins. The variations in cellular responses to different chitosan sponges suggest potential for individual tailoring of desired responses in guided bone regeneration.
