Borderline epithelial ovarian tumors: what the radiologist should know

K. T. Flicek et al.

Summary: Ovarian borderline tumors are epithelial neoplasms that typically occur in young patients and have less soft tissue and thinner walls/septations compared to malignant tumors. Ultrasound is the preferred imaging modality, with MRI used for further characterization of indeterminate cases, and CT is optimal for staging. Despite overlapping features with benign and malignant ovarian tumors, familiarity with the imaging appearances of borderline tumors is important as they can present in younger patients and may benefit from different clinical/surgical management.
