Optimization of the isolation procedure and culturing conditions for hepatic stellate cells obtained from mouse

Thanh Minh Dang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the optimal conditions for HSC isolation and culture to maintain the undifferentiated phenotype. Nycodenz at 9.6% was found to yield the best purity and quantity of HSCs. Serum-free DMEM supplemented with glucose, GLN, vitA, and insulin allowed for the perpetuation of HSCs in culture while maintaining their undifferentiated state.

Understanding the Role of Perilipin 5 in Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Its Role in Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Review of Novel Insights

Paola Berenice Mass Sanchez et al.

Summary: Consuming high-calorie foods, like diets rich in fats, is a significant factor in the development of steatohepatitis, leading to deregulation in cells and the progression of liver diseases such as NAFLD, ultimately culminating in HCC. Understanding the link between NAFLD and HCC progression, differentiation of each stage, and the underlying mechanisms is crucial for developing new treatments and therapeutic targets.

RNF2 Mediates Hepatic Stellate Cells Activation by Regulating ERK/p38 Signaling Pathway in LX-2 Cells

Qi Yan et al.

Summary: The up-regulation of RNF2 in liver fibrosis enhances HSC activation and exerts fibrogenic effects by inhibiting the ERK/p38 signaling pathway induced by TGF-beta 1. The inhibition of RNF2 may be a promising therapeutic target for liver fibrosis.

TGF-β1-induced autophagy activates hepatic stellate cells via the ERK and JNK signaling pathways

Jing Zhang et al.

Summary: The study reveals that TGF-beta 1 can induce HSCs activation and enhance autophagy flux, which can be reversed by inhibiting autophagy or MAPK signaling pathways, suggesting that TGF-beta 1-induced autophagy is involved in the activation of JS1 cells via ERK and JNK signaling pathways.
