Influence of nano-priming on seed germination and plant growth of forage and medicinal plants

Masoomeh Abbasi Khalaki et al.

Summary: Seed priming, especially nano-priming, is an effective tool for promoting plant growth, with variations in the uptake of nanoparticles among different plant species. Nano-priming enhances seed germination, seedling growth, and development in most medicinal and forage plants, while also improving their environmental stress resistance. However, negative effects on seed germination, seedling, and plant growth traits have also been observed, highlighting the need for further research in this area.

Protective effects of cerium oxide nanoparticles in grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) cv. Flame Seedless under salt stress conditions

Gholamreza Gohari et al.

Summary: The study found that cerium oxide nanoparticles can effectively alleviate the adverse effects of salt stress on grapevines, improving relevant agronomic traits. CeO2 NPs significantly ameliorated chlorophyll damage and reduced salt-induced damages in grapevines. The presence of CeO2 NPs significantly improved levels of proline, MDA, and EL, although it did not have a significant impact on H2O2 content under salt stress.

Using halloysite nanotubes as carrier for proline to alleviate salt stress effects in sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum L.)

Aghil Masoudniaragh et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that using halloysite (Hal) as a carrier for materials like proline (Pro) can improve efficiency in alleviating salinity effects in plants. In this study, Pro-Hal at 25 mg L-1 concentration showed the best performance in enhancing agronomic traits, physiological properties, and essential oil components of sweet basil under salt stress conditions. This suggests that Hal can be effectively utilized as a carrier for biostimulants like Pro to help plants cope with salt stress.

Evaluating Particle Emissions and Toxicity of 3D Pen Printed Filaments with Metal Nanoparticles As Additives: In Vitro and in Silico Discriminant Function Analysis

Ajay Vikram Singh et al.

Summary: The study examined the safety concerns surrounding low-cost 3D printing, particularly with 3D pens, in home and school environments by analyzing filament washing and particle emission during printing. Results showed that additives in PLA filaments, such as carbon nanotubes and steel, had minimal toxicity effects, except for copper which caused significant cellular stress, death, and metabolic disturbances. Therefore, caution should be exercised when using 3D printing pens with redox active metal additives in a home setting.
